Propeller is the centre-piece of the album, features Markus Reuter who contributes soundscapes with his distinctive U8 Touch Guitar (Producer/musician: Toyah Wilcox/centrozoon/Stick Men), the majestic sound of Uillean pipes played by Alan Burton and percussion/drums by 05Ric (Gavin Harrison).
GRICE is joined by his brother Jim Peters on ethereal ascending choral harmonies throughout the track.
The song was written following the death of the Artists Father C J Peters and is inspired by the plight of a very young navigator in bomber command who flew 70 missions and is dedicated also to those on the end of their deadly'payloads'.
The album is dedicated to C.J.Peters (DFM)
The title of the album (Propeller) was inspired by the floor of the chapel at RAF Biggin Hill that is constructed of hundreds of propellers from WW1 planes. C.J.Peters had an honorary RAF memorial ceremonial service here.
GRICE is a London born singer-songwriter - Art Rocker. Propeller is his debut solo - a restless and challenging cocktail of electro-acoustic glitch, art rock and avant-pop synthesis.
'With Propeller Grice has created a genuinely extraordinary slice of experimental rock.' ClassicRockProg magazine, May 2012
'acoustic rock diamonds' The Musician magazine, Summer 2012
'the intensity of Mark Hollis or Tim Bowness with a Beatle-esque sweetness...this is highly recommended...' Chris Jones - BBC Producer/writer
maybe its fair, savage and strong
search for the reason, I am alone
maybe its far, to get back to home
your hearts a propeller
you’re landing alone
there was a song, that I wanted, to sing
it could have healed us and said, everything
but your heart, is beautiful
out of the blue
out of it all
what was the moment
you started to fall
maybe its’s far
to get back to home
your heart’s a Propeller
are you landing alone
there was a picture, that I wanted you to paint
it could have shown us the good, for goodness sake
but your heart is beautiful
surrender
there were some words that I thought I could say
when the tears and the silence go away
now I dream of the Love
and the glory, from up above
and my heart’s a Propeller
out of the blue
that was the moment
I saved it for you
maybe its far
I hope you get home
your heart’s a Propeller
you’re landing alone
there is a prayer that I want you to sing
hit a chord to disolve everything
and I’m gathered here today
as my Father has flown away
all the paint and the pipes
and the don’t let the bugs bite
when the tears and the silence go away
the desperate years and the wonderful tears
and your heart’s a Propeller
surrender
there is a prayer that I want you to sing
the wine and the rocks and the ticking of clocks
and I’m gathered here today
as my father has flown away
and my heart’s a Propeller

Whilst delivering well crafted music, unless you focus on the lyrics, you could miss the story lines. This is the last of the war trilogy, so subtle ,but so poignant. Superb music with broken road and Holding On ,on permanent repeat. Listen and become enthralled. Top quality song writing and musicianship.10/10
