dawn chorale (The woodpeckers dream)

about

'One Thousand Birds Symphony' was ignited by the deafening industrial and mechanical silence radiating during lockdown.
This period was somehow a 'sonic tonic' - a breath of pure and unpolluted air - even as my confused mental state deteriorated and the population choked and withdrew, the birds sung with such clarity (as they always do) but they could now be heard even more clearly with such purity as I have never before experienced.
I was driven over this time to rise with them every morning and listen, record and archive their behaviour and their sweet sonatas and dynamic dawn choruses, this became an obsession and resulted in one thousand unique birdsongs and melodies scattered across an equal number of hard drives, discs and memory cards.
The birds are the lead musicians and make up the ensemble, myself and those musicians locked (and melting) down and excommunicated were virtually invited to join the orchestra remotely but we were directed and conducted by the birds and their perfect sonority.
You can not improve on their precious songs, you can only interact, be inspired and play around them in wonderment and fascination.
